Season 7: Changes come to custom training

Season 7: Changes come to the adapted training picture

There are only a few days left until the start of the Rocket Leagues glamorous Season 7. Before we all get into the gilded version of Utopia Coliseum, we want to share some details about changes that will come to Custom Training on June 14 along with the game update.

We’ve read through a lot of your feedback regarding custom training, and with this week’s update, we finally had a chance to include some much-requested quality-of-life adjustments to the system. Read on for a preview of what’s to come!

Training Pack Progression

With season 7, we change how you can navigate and develop through training packages:

Choose your path: Advances in packaging no longer require you to take pictures in a specific order. You will be able to jump around from shot to shot and fill in a package as you wish. Is the third shot that gives you trouble? Skip to the fourth shot and circle back later. (We will explain more about this below.)

What a rescue! We are adding progress to training packages to save data, so you can work with as many pictures and as many packages as you want. Make some progress, take a break and come back later without having to restart packages from scratch.

Reset button: Have you completed a package that you want to take a new look at? No problem. Press Pause and you can reset the progress of all the training packages you have started or completed.

Shot Navigation and Shot Mirroring

We have noted what players want (especially those on PC), so we include a bunch of changes to shot navigation in the Rocket League. Controls for everything below will appear below the progress bar.

Next and previous image: You can now move freely between the shots in a training package – you do not have to complete them in a specific order.

Choose picture: A simple press and hold will bring up a new drop-down menu that allows you to freely choose which shot in the package you want to practice on.

Mix photos: Do you want to mix it up? Press the Shuffle Shots button to randomize the shot order.

Rearview mirror: At the touch of a button, you can mirror a shot to the opposite side of an arena. Working with weak sides and saves has never been easier. Mirroring works in all arenas available in Custom Training. This may not always be the case when new arenas are introduced in the future, depending on shape, size and other factors.

Menu and interface changes

With all the new functionality, we have made some adjustments to the menus and interfaces linked to Custom Training:

History repeats itself: In the Custom Education menu, a new “History” tab has been added next to the “Created” tab. We’ve had the History tab feature enabled in the background for a while now, so your latest training package history should be filled in as soon as your game client is updated. You can also add all packages on the History tab to your favorites list.

Pause menu changes: From here you can reset the progress of a training package, and you can also press “End training” to see the progress of the package.

End training: From here you can jump back to the package, switch to another game mode, change training packages or return to the main menu.

Finally, two really important reminders:

  • With new functionality comes new controls! Want to change the inputs for Shuffle Shots, Mirroring and more?

    • Load in one Customized training package

    • Go to Settings -> Controls -> View / Change Bindings

    • Scroll to the bottomand you will see the new inputs just below the Knockout controls

We’re really excited about all the changes coming to Custom Training, and we can not wait to see you all in play at the beginning of season 7. Let us know what you think of the Custom Training changes at our subredditand in official Rocket League Discord server. Thank you all!
