The James Webb Space Telescope was hit by the first noticeable micrometeoroid just months after the flight

NASA’s next-generation space observatory has maintained its first noticeable micrometeoroid impact less than six months after launch, but the agency is not so worried.

The James Webb Space Telescope, also known as Webb or JWST, was launched on December 25, 2021. It has spent the intervening months migrating to its space station and preparing for scientific observations, a complex process that has gone remarkably smoothly; recently, at NASA it expects to unveil the first scientific-quality images from the telescope on July 12.
