So what can you do to avoid wasting even more money?

Check your data and downgrade

Can you spend too much on your data plan?

If you pay for a lot of data – or even unlimited – but only use a fraction, you may be able to downgrade.

You can control how much data you use in several ways.

First of all, check your ISP’s own app, this will tell you exactly how much you are nagging through each month.

If you can not find this – or just want another way to double check – the iPhone has its own option as well.

Go to settings and Mobile data.

During “Current Period” you will see how much you have spent – but this is a figure for life, so it will probably be huge.

So you have to restore it first and come back in a month, by going to the bottom and choosing Restore statistics.

Then, in 30 days, check again and see what it says.

If you use much less data than you are assigned, it may be worth talking to your network provider about downgrading.

However, keep in mind that you have enough – you do not want to go over your contribution and stop paying more.

There is also another way to avoid nasty bill shocks and that is when roaming.

Most mobile networks have limited the amount of roaming data you receive when you travel to EU countries now.

You can check that roaming is turned off by going to settings followed by Mobile data.

Meet Mobile data options and see if Data roaming is ticked off.

Save yourself with battery repairs

iPhone batteries deteriorate over time, like all other smartphones.

This means that you will eventually have to shell out to replace the battery.

Thankfully, you can prevent this expense from occurring earlier with a smart trick that allows your iPhone to learn your daily charging routine.

Select Battery health.

Ensure Optimized battery charging is on.

It is also worth looking at the maximum capacity as well, as this will tell you how well your iPhone’s battery is doing at the moment.

Change your Apple subscriptions – and work with the family

Do you use more than one of Apple’s subscription services?

Whether it is Apple Music, Apple TV +iCloud or something else, if you use more than one, you can save money by choosing Apple One instead.

Even better, if you know someone else who uses them, you can team up and save even more.

Apple One is the technology giant’s package plan.

An individual plan costs £ 14.95 per month and includes Apple Music, Apple TV +, Apple Arcade and iCloud + with 50 GB of storage.

The family subscription is £ 19.95 and gives you all this to share with five other people – plus the storage is expanded to 200 GB.

You and your family can get even more on top for £ 29.95 a month, take iCloud storage to a fucking 2TB and add News + and Fitness + as well.

If you only have one Apple subscription service and use a rival for something else, it may be worth considering switching to Apple to save money.
