The Nokia T10 tablet is HMD Global’s cheapest Android tablet, with a price tag of less than $ 200. Is it worth buying over the Amazon Fire 7 Tablet?
HMD Global Nokia T10 The tablet is the smallest and cheapest yet, but it is not without competition in the budget Android space for tablets, where one of its significant challengers is Amazon Fire 7 tablet (2022). Amazon has more experience in manufacturing tablets, unlike HMD Global, which released its first, Nokia T20, less than a year ago. In addition, Amazon’s Fire Tablet line is primarily budget units designed as a way for buyers to access its services, such as Prime Video and Kindle.
In addition to tablets, Amazon also manufactures eReaders under the Kindle brand. Kindle readers are primarily designed for reading, unlike Fire Tablets, which can do much more. They have low-power screens for e-ink and can last for weeks before they need to be charged.
Nokia T10 and Fire 7 Tablet (2022) are budget tablets, and this is evident in their design. Their chassis and rear panel are made of polycarbonate, and they have thick frames around their screens, even though they are the same width on the Fire 7. Unfortunately, there is not either protection against dust and water. Amazon offers Fire 7 Tablet in three colors – Black, Denim and Rose – while the Nokia T10 can be purchased in sea blue.
Nokia T10 has LTE
Fire 7 Tablet (2022) is the smaller of the two with its seven-inch LCD screen of 1024 x 600. On the other hand, the Nokia T10 has more screen thanks to a larger eight-inch screen of 1280 x 800. It is also an LCD panel, but unlike Fire 7, which can only stream in SD quality, the Nokia T10 can handle HD streaming. On the performance side, HMD Global delivers its tablet with a Unisoc T606 processor. It is an eight-core chip with two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.6GHz, and it is paired with 3GB / 4GB RAM and 32GB / 64GB storage. On the other hand, Amazon has tablet an unnamed MediaTek circuit set with four cores and a clock speed of 2.0 GHz. In addition, it is paired with 2 GB of RAM, and buyers can choose between having 16 GB or 32 GB of storage space. Just like the Nokia T10, it is possible to add more storage space via a MicroSD card slot. But while Fire 7 supports cards with a maximum capacity of 1 TB, the Nokia T10 has a ceiling of 512 GB. For video calls, there is a 2MP camera on both tablets, but the Nokia T10 should be able to take better pictures with its 8MP rear camera (and LED flash) against the lone 2MP sensor on the back of the Amazon tablet. The software is a big difference between the two tablets even though both run Android. Amazon’s Fire tablets run a fork of Android called Fire OS. It does not have Google services and apps, including Play Store, but comes with its own app store, Alexa voice assistant, and a handful of Amazon apps. The latest version, announced in 2022 and running Fire 7 (2022), is Fire OS 8 and is based on Android 11.
However, the Nokia T10 run Android 12 out of the box. It offers a close-knit Android experience with some exciting features, such as acting as a secondary touch screen when connected to a Windows computer. HMD Global has also promised two Olympic upgrades and three years of security updates. Amazon promises that Fire 7 will receive security updates by 2026, but does not mention Olympic upgrades. In terms of battery life, the Fire 7 (2022) is advertised as lasting up to 10 hours on a single charge, and it takes up to four hours to fully charge it via an included 5W adapter. HMD Global is also not specific about Nokia T10’s battery capacity but says that it has “battery life all day.“Like Fire 7, it charged via USB-C but charges faster at 10W. Both phones have Bluetooth, dual-band WiFi and a sound jack, but only the Nokia T10 has stereo speakers and LTE (optional), so users can connect to mobile networks when there is no WiFi.
Nokia T10 goes for $ 169 in the US, and for that price, users get the variant with 4GB RAM, 64GB storage and LTE support. That’s almost the triple price of the Fire 7 (2022), which sells for $ 59.99 for the base 16GB model and $ 79.99 for the 32GB version. Amazon sells its devices with ads on the lock screen but charges $ 20 extra if users do not want ads. Those who are looking for a cheap tablet for read books or watching motion and TV programs, albeit at standard resolution, may lean towards Fire 7 men Nokia T10 is the choice for buyers who want a budget tablet with a powerful chipset, Google Mobile Services and LTE.
