We’ve heard a lot of claims about which flagship phones we may or may not see from OnePlus this year, with calls mostly referring to a standard OnePlus 10 and a OnePlus 10 Ultra. But it now looks like we may not see any of them, with a OnePlus 10T instead being launched.
So far, this phone seems to be placed at a slightly lower end than the phone OnePlus 10 Pro, so it may end up being OnePlus 10 in everything but name. But leaks indicate that it has Pro-beat in at least one area – that is the charging speed, and there is a possibility that it may also have a better chipset.
Below we have detailed everything we have heard about the OnePlus 10T so far, and we will update this article as soon as we hear more about it.
Get to the point
- What is it? The next advanced OnePlus phone
- When is it out? Probably later this year
- How much does it cost? Possibly slightly smaller than the OnePlus 10 Pro
OnePlus 10T release date and price
The real rumored about release date so far, it indicates that the OnePlus 10T will land in July, although this seems early for a T model and fairly close to the launch of the OnePlus 10 Pro, so we think August or September is more likely.
There is no news on what this phone might cost, but the same source claims that it is between OnePlus 10 Pro and OnePlus 10R, which would mean a slightly lower price than Pro. For reference, that phone starts at $ 899 / £ 799 (about AU $ 1,400).
Although there is some uncertainty about where the 10T actually sits in the line, with some evidence that it may have better specifications than the OnePlus 10 Pro – and possibly be the OnePlus 10 Ultra in everything but the name. In that case, it may have an even higher price.
OnePlus 10T name
OnePlus 10T is a bit of an odd name choice, given that “T” versions are usually upgraded versions of standard numbered versions of OnePlus phones. So really, there should not be a OnePlus 10T but a OnePlus 10.
But by the same token, there should not be a OnePlus 10 Pro but a OnePlus 10, and yet we are here.
Still, there is a chance that OnePlus will actually launch this as OnePlus 10 – something that a source has suggested, says they are not safe if it will be called 10T or 10.
But the latest leaks only talk about a OnePlus 10T, with talk that the 10 have died out and are leaking Max Jambor (opens in new tab) has specifically said that the OnePlus 10T 5G is the “final name of the next and only flagship phone coming from OnePlus this year.”
There is some vague logic to call this the 10T as well, as it will probably land well after OnePlus 10 Pro, so marking it as not a direct part of that line may make sense – and if it lands below the typical T-timing (late in the year) to then add a T to the name makes sense on that front.
OnePlus 10T design and display
One big OnePlus 10T leak has revealed many specifications, and also included pictures, which gives us a look at the possible design of the phone.
You can see one of these images below, complete with a huge camera block that extends across the entire width of the rear – albeit only accommodating lenses in the left two-thirds, while the front has a flat screen with fairly narrow frames and a hole-hole camera .
You can also see power and volume buttons on the right edge, but there is no warning control. However, it is worth noting that these images are obviously based on early prototype units of the phone, so they may not be entirely accurate.
The same source also revealed that the OnePlus 10T apparently has a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The exact screen specifications also have listed by another delicious. The other leaked thought that this phone would be launched as OnePlus 10, but they are clearly talking about the same phone.
Based on all this, the design and display seems to be a small step down from the OnePlus 10 Pro, as it has a QHD + curved screen and possibly slightly smaller frames.
OnePlus 10T camera and battery
According to a leak OnePlus 10T has a camera with three lenses on the back, consisting of a 50 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 16 MP ultrawide snapper and a 2MP macro. It can apparently also record video in up to 4K quality with up to 60 fps. The front is said to simultaneously accommodate a 32MP camera that can record in 1080p at 30fps.
The same camera specification list had been previously excluded from another sourceso there is a good chance that it is correct.
As I said, a third source has pointed out slightly different camera specificationssays that one expects a 50MP f / 1.8 primary sensor combined with 8MP and 2MP secondary, and a 16MP camera on the front.
As for the battery, the same three sources have said that it has a 4,800 mAh with 150 W charge. It’s an incredible amount of charging power and would have OnePlus 10 Pro-beat – although the size of the battery is smaller here, and the 10T obviously also lacks wireless charging.
OnePlus 10T specifications and features
There is little uncertainty as to which control circuit the OnePlus 10 Pro will use, with sources suggest it can use either Dimensity 9000 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
These are both advanced control circuits, where the latter is even better than the one in the OnePlus 10 Pro (or almost any other Android phone).
It is the latter control circuit that currently also looks more likely, with a source saying that OnePlus has decided to switch from Dimensity to Snapdragonand the leak @yabhishekhd specifically tweeting (opens in new tab) that it will use Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. A third source has also pointed to this chipset.
Beyond that, we have heard that the OnePlus 10T can come with optional 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage, plus Android 12 overlaid with OxygenOS 12.
There is also talk of a fingerprint reader under the display and stereo speakers – none of which would be surprising.
