I know what some of you are thinking: “Paul, shut up, shut up, shut up!” I’m writing about a hugely powerful new DPS weapon, and you think Bungie will hear about it and nerd it.
I have some news for you. Bungie has definitely already seen your triple Stormchaser single-phase Caiatl clear, and they will do what they do regardless of me. But your average player, they may not know about Stormchaser’s glory, so I want to make sure everyone gets this thing done before they probably do. is nervous at some point in the future. But hopefully it will last as long as this current season, at least.
Stormchaser is a new linear arc fusion rifle from the Duality Dungeon, with a twist. The difference is that it is the only “aggressive frame” three round burst linear fusion in the game. And as a result, it not only does about 40% more damage than a regular linear fusion with the same benefits, it actually overclasses every other legendary and exotic in the heavy slot by a fairly large margin, outside of a very, very specific throw on another weapon.
I’m going to turn to my friend Chevy, who has done the tests that show how nutty Stormchaser is. Here is the ranked DPS list now that Stormchaser is in the mix:
- Cataclysm with Bait and Switch and Fourth Time’s the Charm (lands each shot) – 3.43 million
- Stormchaser with Vorpal – 2.43 million
- Cataclysm with Bait and Switch – 2.14 million
- Sleeper Simulant – 1.69 million
- Eyes of Tomorrow – 1.44 million
- Hezen with Lasting Impression and Wolfpack Rounds – 1.52 million
- Whisper of the Worm – 1.27 million
- Xenophage – 1.25 million
- Hezen with the last impression – 1.21 million
- Gjallarhorn – 1.16 million
- Hezen with Vorpal – 1.12 million
- One thousand votes – 1.03 million
- Palmyra with explosive light – 716,000
- Parasite x20 – 416 000
So, as you can see, while the top position is technically Vow raid linear fusion Cataclysm, you need exactly the Bait and Switch, Fourth Time’s the Charm Roll to get it so high. You must trigger Bait and Switch by landing shots with all three weapons, then you must hit each shot to trigger for the fourth time. At the same time, Stormchaser only needs Vorpal to get that high, and you will routinely see 100,000+ injuries per single shot at a boss goal. It’s … extremely crazy. Additional tests show that almost all buffs you can get on Stormchaser beat the same buffs on Cataclysm. For the most part, Stormchaser is 30-40% higher:
So you want one. Where do you get it? Once in place, the Duality Dungeon, but two places within it, meet the second and third meeting. It does not drop from the first. The second Vault meeting is your best bet because the exchange pool is smaller than the final boss, and I have already got two Vorpal there with only a small amount of agriculture. That segment does not even require a boss fight, just essentially ad cleaning in a timer and not destroying clocks. So yes, I would highly recommend cultivation for that, and even if you do not have time to run the entire dungeon, you can A) use these sections repeatedly, individually, now with how dungeon farming works and B) there are many of the LFG none microphone groups that run these all the time. The mechanics are not complicated enough where you actually need to talk if you have a clue what you are doing.
I think the Stormchaser archetype, of which it is the only one, will probably get nervous so it is not so much deviant, more or less a million damage over all other exotics and legends except Bait and Switch Cataclysm. But until then, get one and go crazy, it’s great fun.
